New PG Course introduced
We are happy to introduce
M.A. Course in SOCIOLOGY
from this academic year 2011-12.
This new Masters degree has been designed to reflect current developments in the field. The course provides the opportunity for you to advance your knowledge of sociological theory and explore the debates at the forefront of the discipline, as well as receiving research methods training.
Objectives:
- Develop critical skills and advance your knowledge of Sociology.
- Explore key issues and debates with a focus on social inequalities and current social issues.
- Develop an understanding of a wide range of global issues.
- Opportunity to learn Research Techniques and apply them to present a dissertation on a chosen current social issue.
- Learn from expert & experienced staff with specialisms in the study of disaster, gender and other subaltern social categories.
Eligibility:
1) A candidate who has passed the three year B.A. Examination of any recognized University or equivalent thereto with Sociology as one of the core subjects, shall be eligible for admission to M.A. course in Sociology.
2) A General merit candidate should have secured at least 50% marks in aggregate and 55% in Sociology in the degree course. For candidates belonging to SC/St/BT and OBC, it is relaxed to 45% both in aggregate marks and marks secured in Sociology.

5. Students are also given opportunities to participate, plan and organize seminars/workshops on their own in order to inculcate professionalism;
6. As students of the department, they are entitled to become members of the Bangalore Social Sciences Forum, which regularly organizes lectures, seminars, academic contests and film shows on social science subjects. This will broaden their horizon of knowledge.

will commence from
4 July 2011
A detailed time table will be announced on 30 June 2011
Applications for supplementary exam will be issued from
24 June 2011
Collection of Examination fee will be from
25 to 28 June 2011 (with out penal fee.)
29 June 2011 (with penal fee of Rs. 100/-)
Applications will not be received after 29 June 2011.
Fee structure and revaluation details are
notified on the college notice board.
